The Roman Empire, Wednesday, March 19, 2014

Today was Roman Empire day. Lots of walking, lots of amazement. Hard to believe man built this. And not just making huge mounds or moving large rocks, but real engineering. Aqueducts that flowed 70km, dome's spanning huge areas, archs, roads. 1,7 million people lived here 2000 years ago. 1 cubic meter of water per person per day. Even NY city does not get that much water. Just imagine feeding them every day, and removing the waste. Truely an empire. And yet 1000 years later, only 17,000 people lived there. The one percenters. How strange it must have been to live then. With only dim myths of empires long ago, giants that built these structures.
