The preparation started many months before. The timing of when we will be there any when will will bring the tree and the food ad the kids and ... It worked out, except for the tree. Turns out all large trees (>10 feet) were all long gone. So I bought the largest one left, a 8 footer and hoped it would be enough. On the way up to Hunter, we stopped at Adams Farms to food shop and they had a larger tree. A 9+ footer. So I bought that also. And left the other one.
