Marble Canyon - March 17, 2017

We made it to the Canyon just before everything closes. And by everything I mean the only restaurant in the non-existant town. The rooms were comfortable and we were tired. But I wanted to go out and see the night sky. Magnificent. The daytime scenery was almost as impressive. Desolute and beautiful. The lovely women owner of the motel (transplant from the East) told me that during the rainy season (in the fall) the lightening is spectacular with the thunder rolling and echoing throughout the canyons. I have to see this. Interestingly enough, this location has the only bridge across Colorado River for hundereds of miles, and it is also the only spot to easily get to the river (Lee's Ferry) and is where all the river expeditions put into for the long journey downriver (about 20 days). And finally, its a famous spot for fly fishing. The motel lobby had the best equiped and highest grade of fishing gear I had seen West of the Pacos.
