Zion Narrows - March 19,2017

The last part of this day is to head into the headwaters of the Zion Valley, known as the Narrows. Here the canyon walls come closer together, ultimately converging to a crack so small a person can barely pass through. As you go deeper, the wall height decreases, but they are still subtantial. Hundred's of feet. The danger is that if the waters rise, there is no place to stand or even shelter. And even if there is all blue sky up above, some innocent thunderstorm ten's of miles away will cause a flash flood here. And if you are in the modestly deep part of the narrows, or even in the not so deep, the river will give you no quarter, it will sweep you away. A free ride. Rumor has it few survive. At least that is what they say
